Coins are a new in-game currency for The Matchball. You earn coins every time you reach 80 points in a game, as well as for completing other in-game actions like inviting players.
You can redeem coins for Boosts at any time from the new Matchball Shop!

New competitions for 24/25 are now live: Serie A and La Liga join the Premier League, Championship and Champions League.

You can now create intimate competitions between you and your closest rivals by creating a Squad, a private list of players.
You will see a Squad mini-league for every game plus a weekly Squad league table.

With new leagues being added to the game for the 24/25 season, there is a new Filter button, which lets you pick which competitions you want to see in your games list. This helps to reduce the number of games in the app to the competitions you are most interested in playing and allows players to customise their experience in the app.

The "10 Corner" Elite boost has been improved to "12 Corners". Now you're guaranteed 36 points instead of 30 when using this boost.
The "Max passing" Elite boost has been changed to "50% Passing". A good amount of teams get close to maximum passing points (50), meaning Max passing boosts have been averaging just +3.86 points in recent games. 50% will mean larger points increases.

A new way to play The Matchball has just launched in early beta.
"Matchdays" are groups of games. You still pick a team for each of the points categories, but this time from a list of teams playing in each Matchday.
Matchdays launch with two rounds of international friendlies, but will continue with 6 rounds during the Euro 2024 starting June 14th!

The global league is now reset every Tuesday 23:59:59 UTC instead of being monthly. This makes is more engaging and exciting, new players can more easily join, and thereyou can now enjoy any accidental or intentional breaks from the game without it messing up your monthly score.

After testing over the weekend, the game list has now been redesigned to be a full list. When split by day, most games were being hidden from players, meaning less people were playing.

For individual game scores, XP rewards have been improved. This will make it easier to earn XP and level up.
You now earn 1 XP for +60 pts, 2 XP for +80 pts and 3 XP for 100+ pts.
Previously you would earn 1 XP for +80 pts and 3 XP for 110+ pts.
